In a court filing in a New York district court, Ms Roberts Giuffre’s lawyer David Boies lodged a joint party statement:
Prince Andrew has never intended to malign Ms Giuffre’s character, and he accepts that she has suffered both as an established victim of abuse and as a result of unfair public attacks.

Ms Giufree, a mother-of-three, alleges she was forced to have sex with the Duke of York three times in London, New York and Epstein’s Caribbean island, when aged of 17.
“Twenty years ago, Prince Andrew’s wealth, power, position, and connections enabled him to abuse a frightened, vulnerable child with no one there to protect her. It is long past the time for him to be held to account,” according to the lawsuit.

Ghislaine Maxwell and Prince Andrew have been in the news for more than a decade, as allegations of sexual impropriety continue to swirl around the two.
However, what is not so well-known is how they first met, which was reportedly while she was at Oxford University in the 1980s.

The Duke of York told the BBC in a notorious interview he met Epstein through Maxwell.
Was I right in having him as a friend? At the time, bearing in mind this was some years before he was accused of being a sex offender. I don’t think there was anything wrong then, the problem was the fact that once he had been convicted.

One of the Epstein’s accusers, Virginia Roberts, has made allegations against you. She says she met you in 2001, she says she dined with you, danced with you at Tramp nightclub in London. She went on to have sex with you in a house in Belgravia belonging to Ghislaine Maxwell, your friend. Your response?

From 2000 until 2003, the Prince travelled the world with Maxwell, Epstein and other VIPs. The royal denied any impropriety, but admitted visiting Epstein in New York after he was released from jail.
What is clear is that Ghislaine Maxwell has been a close friend of the Prince for a very long time. In fact, some have suggested that she may have been more than just a friend.

“If there are questions that Ghislaine has to answer, that’s her problem I’m afraid, I’m not in a position to be able to comment one way or the other,” he said during his car crash BBC interview in 2019.
The public wants answers from the Prince but he has been hiding behind his enormous privilege since news of the civil suit broke.
