Ghislaine Maxwell Retrial Call After Juror’s Media Statements

Ghislaine Maxwell Retrial Lawyers for convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell are asking for a retrial after a juror told media he used his own experience of abuse to persuade other jurors who doubted witnesses.

Listen to the podcast Will Chatty Maxwell Juror Cause Mistrial

Prosecutors are also asking a judge to open an inquiry into the man’s statements.

Meanwhile, the journalist who first ran the juror’s story is doubling down on her decision to run the interview.

While Lucia Osborne-Crowley has not answered our questions, she uploaded a series of statements to her Instagram.

Here are our questions:

Ghislaine Maxwell retrial

Maxwell, a 60-year-old Brit, was found guilty last week in New York City on five of six counts relating to child sex trafficking.

Ghislaine Maxwell Retrial
The Maxwell juror Scotty David

The juror, Scotty David, said he told fellow jurors that, like some of Epstein’s victims, he had been abused as a child.

Maxwell’s lawyers maintained this could be grounds for a new trial.

Ghislaine Maxwell Retrial

Ghislaine Maxwell will likely spend the next years in prison, but it is unclear what will now happen next with her case.

“I know what happened when I was sexually abused. I remember the colour of the carpet, the walls. Some of it can be replayed like a video,” he said he told the jury, according to The Independent. “But I can’t remember all the details, there are some things that run together.”

He told the news agency Reuters: “When I shared that, they were able to sort of come around on, they were able to come around on the memory aspect of the sexual abuse.”

The key issue appears to be whether Mr David disclosed his history of sexual abuse to the court.

Ghislaine Maxwell Retrial

The juror said he “flew through” the questionnaire used before trial to screen whether prospective jurors could judge Maxwell fairly.

But he said he did not recall being asked about his experiences of sexual abuse. He added that he would have answered the questions honestly.

Prosecutors wrote to the court asking for a further examination of the juror’s comments.

“The government has become aware that a juror has given several interviews to press outlets regarding his jury service in this case,” the US attorney’s letter said.

“In particular, the juror has described being a victim of sexual abuse. Assuming the accuracy of the reporting, the juror asserted that he ‘flew through’ the prospective juror questionnaire and does not recall being asked whether he had been a victim of sexual abuse, but stated that ‘he would have answered honestly’.”

Ghislaine Maxwell Retrial

Judge Alison Nathan responded on by giving the defence two weeks to file their motion for a new trial “in light of the issues raised in the parties’ letters”.

“Jeffrey Epstein accuser Ghislaine Maxwell seeks new trial after jury member says he used his own experience of being sexually abused as a child to persuade others who doubted victims.”

Transcript of Prince and the Pervert Podcast episode.

A global criminal conspiracy, a prince, a jailed socialite and a billionaire, who may or may not have been murdered. Welcome to the world of the Jeffrey Epstein, the Prince and the Pervert Podcast. Journalists Lisa and Jen bring you the ultimate deep dive.

Hello and welcome to the Prince and the pervert podcast. My name is Lisa Tait and my co host, Jen Tarran.
How are you today? I’m great, Lisa.

We’re here to update everyone about the developments in the Ghislaine Maxwell case. That’s right.

Just when we thought it was over, Jen stupidity. The more we look this case, I think we’ll go on for a very long time.

Ghislaine Maxwell Retrial

Because regardless of what happens, there will be appeal after appeal.
Correct? Yes.

And on that. am also going to be updating you on Prince Andrew and how he thinks the law in America should be changed to save him; special.

Andrew is special, so make way victims.

He’s going to barge his way through.

It’s a bit of a circus, this whole Prince Andrew thing.

Well, considering I just read an article in The Economist, Darling, and what it said was the monarchy, the hereditary monarchy.

It relies on the consent of the people to operate

But yet here we have a case where he allegedly disregarded someone else’s right to consent.

So much irony it is,

isn’t it?

So I think when you’ve grown up in that environment,

6D3EB274 640D 4B24 AACA 31FC14BF4120

Ghislaine Maxwell Retrial

Jen, you really think it’s my way or the highway and you get used to being able to push people around.

But what do his lawyers have left?

Because the judge who hasn’t yet at the time of recording made a decision, the judge Lewis Kaplan,

he seemed as though he wasn’t taking on board many of the things that Andrew’s lawyer was saying.

For starters,

Andrew is trying to use that 2000 and nine settlement agreement.

That Virginia Giuffre signed after she got state ordered compensation.

Have you read the language in that document from the beginning of the world?

Did a Scientologist write

that document? Oh,

I would love that.

You know, I’m obsessed with Scientology.

So perhaps they did Jen.

Or was it dirt?

Who is the author of that settlement agreement?

I’d love to know.

Now when she says Dersh,

Ghislaine Maxwell Retrial

she means Alan Dershowitz,

who was Epstein’s lawyer,

Trump’s lawyer,

OJ’s lawyer.

But Virginia did also alleged he assaulted her,

which he denies,

and she has a civil case against him at the moment.

He spent six months trying to get it dismissed as well,

using this settlement to and then he countersued her when he realised it wasn’t going to work.

So his name actually did come up in court yesterday during the hearing.

So fascinating.

Dershowitz is never far from this.

But,

Jen,

Do you want to take us through what is going on with Scotty the Juror and the Ghislaine Maxwell case?

Well, Scotty went and posted on his instagram about being one of the jurors.

Now Lisa and I found that INSTAGRAM post and decided because we are journalists, we have ethics, and in Australia we can’t interview jurors.

So we left at the hell alone. But of course, somebody else found it. Do no harm.

And unfortunately, Scotty has been doing some harm because Ghislaine Maxwell’s team has jumped on it, demanding that that means she needs a new trial.

He’s a self described survivor and spoke to journalists about how he spoke to the other jurors about his abuse and how you should trust survivors in how the survivor stories in this case rang true to him due to his own life experience.

Ghislaine Maxwell Retrial

Now that’s what jurors do. They explain their feelings or their belief or whatever based on their own life experience, a panel appears.

The big question is what he wrote on Question 48 in the questionnaire.

Now that was a question about have you been sexually assaulted or members of the family or people you know?

Ghislaine Maxwell Retrial

He has said he doesn’t remember what he put down or if he skipped that.

But that doesn’t matter. If he skipped that, why wasn’t it picked up that he was a survivor when it came to questioning him in court?

Ghislaine Maxwell Retrial

Quite frankly, if he didn’t write anything in that box, it’s up to Maxwell’s team to question him.

They obviously thought bloke he wouldn’t be a survivor and went on their merry way as we spoke well before the trial.

When they first released the various questionnaires and avoid a deer. as I prefer to say, it was obvious that G Max’s team was trying to rid the jury of any survivors.

It’s on their own heads that a survivor went through and was impanelled on that jury.

That’s not a reason for a new trial in my belief, so as journalists. And we’ve been reporting on the Epstein case now for 2.5 years, and we’ve had a lot of exclusives.

Although Jen, we’ve never branded them worldwide exclusives. Should we do that from now on?

I think we should, though. Everybody keeps stealing our exclusives and they become their exclusives but whatever.

And we said it will be new stories and social media and here we go straight away.

I just want to say two things. Journalists and jurors. This is not about you, and I’d like to add again, do no harm.

Now I’ve contacted Lucia, but I haven’t heard back from her yet.

Ghislaine Maxwell Retrial

But I did ask her some questions,

How do you feel that the survivors are really upset about this? I’ve heard nothing yet, but I’ve also asked her agent.

Well, that’s a good idea.

She may not have realised the implications of talking with this juror.

She may not have had a clue, but she’s a lawyer. She’s got a law degree.

As a journalist myself, there have been times where I have gotten. Jen, you’re always pulling me back, aren’t you?

Well, So I’ll be the first to admit sometimes I get carried away by the momentum of a story, but we try and do no harm.

We do, and that’s why we saw his post and just went We’re not touching that.

We do not wish to add to the trauma. So he’s got a lawyer now. Scotty the juror? Well yes.

And that lawyer He represented Anna Delvey, who was the woman that scammed everyone. She said she was like an heiress, and she went through the New York scamming everyone for holidays, and she went to all the parties and lived in hotels.

She was a cracker of a story that one.

Amazing. She’s out now. Really? Yes,

Scotty. The jurors got the same lawyer as her, which I find fascinating.

But see the government. The prosecution jumped on this immediately and put up a docket stating that there needed to be an inquiry about this.

Of course, Ghislaine’s Team came straight back going.

Oh, no need for an inquiry.

We should just It’s a mistrial straight away.

She needs a new trial, so they have taken advantage of Scotty talking. M Scotty probably spoke out in good faith, spoke out because it was important to him as a survivor.

But it’s caused so much damage, hopefully as the judge had already told the jurors that they could talk just to be careful.

Hopefully, she’s just going to ignore GMax’s issues, but it will come down to his answer.

Juror number 50 as Scotty was known. M His answer on question 48 whether or not he filled that incorrectly and admitted to being a survivor himself or skip that question if he lied on that question, then there’s going to be problems.

But it also comes down to G. Max’s team, not picking up in direct questioning that he was a survivor because they tried to avoid having any survivors on that jury.

A jury is supposed to be your peers Now. Sexual assault is so rampant in our society that at least three people in a group of 12 would be survivors. So honestly, kicking out all survivors on a jury panel isn’t giving up here group.

And also, Jen, do you think that Scotty is also overestimating the influence he had on the jury?

Prince Andrew Paedo Case: Royal Asks Abolish Victims Law

Prince Andrew Paedo Case: A besieged Prince Andrew, who is trying to block a woman from suing him over alleged sexual abuse, is trying to undermine a US law that gives sex assault victims more time to sue.

In a bold legal move, the attorney for the royal argued before Manhattan Judge Lewis Kaplin that a recent extension to a passed New York State law was unconstitutional.

Attorney Andrew Brettler said it should be stricken down and he had served notice on the New York Attorney-General.

The fallout from the Epstein scandal has been going on since about 2010

Prince Andrew Paedo Case

He stated the woman suing Prince Andrew Virginia Roberts Giuffre “took advantage” of extended statute of limitations, waiting 5 days before the deadline, which is “inherently unjust.”

If the judge agrees, it would not knock out a core component of Virginia Roberts’ arsenal in her case against Prince Andrew.

According to victims attorney Lisa Bloom, it could also knock out the rights of other sex abuse survivors.

A former teenage sex slave, Ms Roberts Giuffre claims she was trafficked by dead pedophile Jeffrey Epstein when she was 17 years old. She was allegedly forced to have sexual relations with everyone from Prince Andrew, disgraced model agent Jean-Luc Brunel and Alan Dershowitz—a claim all men have vociferously denied.

Prince Andrew Paedo Case

At the center of this legal battle is a new law signed by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo that extended the statute of limitations for child sexual abuse cases.

The legislation was intended to give survivors more time to seek justice and also apply retroactively, which could allow people like Roberts who were abused as children more time to sue those responsible for their pain.

“He doesn’t just want to block Virginia’s access to justice. He wants to block ALL child sexual abuse victims’ access,” Ms Bloom wrote on Twitter.

She said: “Prince Andrew has now done a complete reversal of his prior position that he would fully cooperate with any investigation into sexual abuse in Epstein’s orbit…Oh please. She (Giuffre) filed before the deadline. That’s all that should matter.”

Prince Andrew Court Showdown: Royals May Need to Supply Texts etc

Prince Andrew Court Showdown: Queen Elizabeth’s second son today faces an unprecedented test in a New York City court.

We will soon learn if the royal family will be ordered to provide texts, private records and other evidence ahead of a sex abuse civil trial that might start no earlier than September 2022.

The matter of whether a settlement agreement reached between accuser Virginia Roberts-Giuffre and Jeffrey Epstein in 2009 covers Prince Andrew will be thrashed out in front of Judge Lewis Kaplan.

Prince Andrew argues that his accuser’s confidential agreement with dead blackmailer Jeffrey Epstein covers him from liability.

The Royal is being sued by Ms Roberts Giuffre, who alleges she was forced to have sex with the Prince three times, in London, New York and on Epstein’s Caribbean island, when aged 17.

Prince Andrew’s lawyers contend that Jeffrey Epstein’s settlement agreement with Ms Roberts Giuffre intended to cover anyone she might sue.

Although not part of this case, Ms Roberts Giuffre has made claims the royal assaulted eight other girls in a group sex encounter.

The incident allegedly happened on Epstein’s Little St James Island.

Daniela Esler wrote on news.com.au about how the palace had protected the prince for years.

“To me, it’s simply wrong that Queen has called to bear the clout and lustre of the throne to try and save the skin of a man who, even if nothing else, saw fit to spend five days staying in the home of a registered sex offender,” she said.

The Duke of York was also reportedly a frequent visitor to Epstein’s Paris apartment.

In an unpublished memoir, Ms Roberts Giuffre wrote: “Epstein, Prince Andrew, approximately eight other young girls and I had sex together…The other girls all seemed and appeared to be under the age of 18 and didn’t really speak English.”

As a result, the UK royal family is again in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons with the Duke of York at the center of the scandal.

According to Sean O’Grady in The Independent, the case will not deliver a fatal blow to the monarchy: “Prince Andrew’s apparent determination to resist the civil case, and the palace and the Queen (presumably) paying his legal bills, the affair will drag on for some time. As it goes on and on, the details about what did and did not happen will be examined in excruciating detail.

While the Queen pays his legal bills, the affair will drag on for some time. As it goes on and on, the details about what did and did not happen will be examined in excruciating detail….

It won’t end the controversies anyhow, and Andrew’s name will be forever linked with Maxwell and Epstein.“

Prince Andrew Court Showdown

Prince Andrew is the youngest son of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh.

He denies these allegations but what would happen if he came to America? Could he be arrested on his arrival or face perjury charges? Can he sweat?

Her lawyers have asked for information about his widely-mocked claim he could not perspire.

Virginia Roberts Prince Andrew: Pictures of Royal

Virginia Roberts Prince Andrew: The Prince Andrew Virginia Roberts Giuffre saga is moving on to a new phase since Ghislaine Maxwell was declared a convicted child sex criminal.

The adversaries’ legal teams will face off at a pre-trial hearing in New York City on January 4. The royal’s team is attempting to have the civil action dismissed.

Andrew, the second son of English Monarch Queen Elizabeth II, is locked in a vicious battle over claims he assaulted Ms Roberts Giuffre three times when she was aged 17.

The Epstein whistleblower alleges Maxwell and Epstein trafficked her to Prince Andrew in London, New York and the US Virgin Islands.

In his notorious train crash BBC interview of 2019, the Duke of York said he and Epstein were friends until just after the American’s release from his prison sentence in Florida, around 2010.

From 2000 until 2003, the Prince also travelled the world with Epstein, Maxwell and other VIPs on the billionaire’s aircraft.

Prince Andrew would stay at Epstein’s homes whenever he visited the US. He said Epstein’s New York mansion was “convenient place” for him to stay when he had business.

The Royal also organised a “straightforward shooting weekend” to celebrate Maxwell’s 40th birthday at the Queen’s Balmoral estate.

It emerged in 2020 that US prosecutors want to speak to Prince Andrew as part of their investigation into Epstein’s death.

They have made at least two formal requests but were rebuffed by the royal’s lawyers.

The Duke had been friends with Epstein from at least 2000 when Associated Press published pictures of Prince Andrew on holiday with Epstein in Thailand with petite, scantily-clad females.

The pre-trial conference will be soon underway in federal court in Manhattan, so here is everything we know about the allegations, the civil lawsuit, and how it could impact the Duke of York, who stepped down from public life amid the fallout from the scandal.

The lawsuit filed in August in Manhattan federal court by Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s most prominent alleged victims, claimed she was forced on three occasions to have sex with Prince Andrew when she was 17 and he was around 40.

Repeating prior claims, the suit alleges that the prince committed sexual assault at Epstein’s New York City mansion when she and “another victim” were forced to “sit on Prince Andrew’s lap as Prince Andrew touched her breast”.

It was alleged a puppet had been used by the Royal to grope Ms Roberts Giuffre, according to an Epstein assault survivor.

Maxwell was convicted on December 29 of sex trafficking and four other counts, and is potentially facing life in prison.

The lawsuit also includes the well-known picture of Prince Andrew with his arm around Giuffre’s waist in which Maxwell appears in the background.

The royal has previously claimed the photo was doctored, and he has never faced criminal charges.

There are four girls in this case who have accused Maxwell of setting them up with the late financier and blackmailer, Jeffrey Epstein.

The jury asked in Tuesday to re-read testimonies from three of these accusers before coming to a decision.

Carolyn, who testified under her first name, was 14 when Epstein started to abuse her in the early 2000s.

Maxwell Trial News

Jane, who testified under a pseudonym, said he started to sexually abuse her when she was 14. She told jurors Maxwell was sometimes present for, and participated in, such abuse.

Ghislaine’s defence team says that Maxwell is innocent and is being framed by these women.

Closing arguments in the trial of Ghislaine Maxwell, who is accused of aiding her former boyfriend Jeffrey Epstein in the sexual abuse of underage girls, ended on Monday.

In its final statement, the prosecution said that Maxwell’s close relationship with Epstein and “manipulative” actions were key to the international abuse.

The prosecution asserted that Maxwell was not a victim or a unwitting accomplice in Epstein’s crimes.

Moreover, she was a co-conspirator who used her extensive network of contacts to launder money and recruit underage girls for Epstein.

Prosecutors also argued that Maxwell had lied to authorities and tried to obstruct the investigation into Epstein’s behavior.

Defense attorneys countered by saying that there was no evidence that Maxwell had ever engaged in sex abuse.

But the government accused Maxwell of touching the breast of three of the complainants.

Judge Alison Nathan said over the weekend that jurors would be instructed they may choose to convict Ms Maxwell if they concluded she either ignored or “consciously avoided” knowledge of Epstein’s underage sexual encounters.

There are still some lingering mysteries about the highest profile prisoner in the US remand system. At the same time, there is almost 3million pages of evidence from the prosecution to her lawyers.

GHISLAINE MAXWELL. Youngest daughter of disgraced UK publisher Robert Maxwell and his French wife Betty. Maxwell Snr is said to have fled Chezoslovakia during WWII as a teenager. Despite his background Maxwell Snr ended up speaking English with a refined accent, and was fluent in many other languages.

He’s widely said he was a spy, a tag that also haunts his daughter.

She was the last of nine children, born in France on Xmas day 1961, hence her middle name being Noelle. She led a life of luxury, the right schools, mixing with the elite and yes that includes royalty.

In 1991 her father died in suspicious circumstances and was found dead floating in the water alongside his mega yacht, The Lady Ghislaine. It’s said she was her father’s favourite and in the days following his death she dealt with the press and the funeral arrangements, rather than her older brothers who were also involved in the family business.

Maxwell senior died under a cloud of scandal, there were millions missing from his companies pension fund. This resulted in court cases and bankruptcies, but that’s for another pod.

Maxwell Trial News

Said to be devastated by the death of her father, Ghislaine fled to the US, where she was reduced to living on a trust fund of a reported 100k a year. A huge amount for most, but to her a massive decline in her circumstances. At the time of her father’s death she knew JE, but it’s not known if she met JE before her Father, or if her Father introduced her.

She no doubt was the person who introduced JE to Prince Andrew.

For many years she was his live in companion, many have stated that she was desperate to marry epstein. She has acknowledged she worked for him, organising people for JE to hire, decorating his many homes, working with architects on renovation projects and other such things.

She stated in her 2016 deposition in the Guiffre V Maxwell defamation case that by 04 she had little to do with JE, in fact only did a bit of work for him and only saw him occasionally, most notably around the time of JE’s mother’s death in 04.

It is know that she started dating Gateway internet founder Ted Waitte in 04, a relationship that lasted until late 2010 or early 2011.

No doubt the whispers of JE florida arrest and sentencing affected her social standing and many believe her charity and foundation work following this was to rehabilitate herself and distance herself from the convicted paedophile.

She set up the save the ocean charity Terramar Project in 2012 and it’s rumoured that it was through her work with Terramar that she met now confirmed husband Tom Borgenson.

The Daily Mail announced the pair had met at the first annual Arctic Circle Assembly, a think tank for environmental, resources and trade centred on the Arctic Circle in late 2013, however our exclusive investigations have confirmed that Borgenson was listed on the board of Terramar in the March of 2013, months before the inaugural assembly. She closed  TerraMar on July 12 2019 days after JE’s arrest.

IT was around this time she stopped being on the social circuit with few photos surfacing from 2016 onways. By 2017 her lawyers stated they did not know where she was living.

Maxwell Trial News

In a lawsuit filed in  2017 by Sarah Ransome against Maxwell, Discrict Judge John Koelti granted a motion for ‘alternative servie’ on the grounds that the plantiffs efforts to reach Maxwell were persistently thwarted, including Ransome hiring private investigors to try and track her down.

In august of 2019 it was reported that she was living in Manchester-by-the-sea with Borgerson, but he denied any relationship with Maxwell, stating that she was not living at the home and that he did not know where she was and denied any romantic partnership.

In October 2020 Borg stepped down as his role as CEO of CargoMetries, a head fund investment company involved in maritime data anyalyics  – shipping trade route info, due to his association with Maxwell.

It was rumoured that the pair had been dating since Borgenson divorced his wife in 2015, although our investigations point to the pair hooking up years prior.

After Epstein’s arrest she was still missing and the only hint of her location was the Los Angeles In-And-Out burger photo.

Various news reports described her as being on the run, even to saying she had been hiding out in a French castle or in paris, locations not too far-fetched as she is a French citizen. She also holds UK and US citizenship.

In late December 2019 it emerged that she was one of the people the FBI was investigating for facilitating Epstein, and it later emerged that her lawyers had been communicating with the SDNY via email, but refused to disclose where she was or accept on her behalf service of three civil  lawsuits against her.

On July 2 2020 the FBI raided her home in Bradford, New Hampshire, a property she bought using an LLC.

She and an unidentified man viewed the property giving their names as Jan and Scott Marshall, and that she was a journalist and wanted seclusion.

Ghislaine Maxwell Verdict: the End of the Scandal?

Ghislaine Maxwell Verdict: the jury has retired to consider the sex trafficking charges against Jeffrey Epstein’s ex-girfriend.

The Brit spent her 60th birthday in custody at The Metropolitan Remand Centre, Brooklyn.

Jurors have broken for the holidays and will resume their deliberations on Monday.

Ghislaine Maxwell Verdict: Jurors in the Ghislaine Maxwell criminal trial were told today the socialite daughter of fraudster Robert Maxwell was at the heart of Jeffrey Epstein’s sex abuse ring.

“When that man (Jeffrey Epstein) is accompanied by a posh, smiling, respectable, age-appropriate woman, that’s when everything starts to seem legitimate,” said Assistant US Attorney Alison Moe.

Listen to The Prince and the Pervert Podcast: Is this the End for Ghislaine Maxwell?

Maxwell could die in jail if she convicted. She has denied all of the charges against her.

Prosecutors allege that Maxwell was involved in Epstein’s sex trafficking ring, which involved underage girls and adult women. They accuse her of being an “integral part of the operation.”

Assistant U.S. Attorney Maurene Comey said the claim Maxwell had no knowledge of the abuse that occurred to the four trial accusers was a “laughable argument.”

“Those four witnesses gave you the most damaging testimony in this trial,” she said. “These women put themselves through the hell of testifying at this trial even though they have nothing to gain.”

But Epstein kept many secrets from Maxwell, the defence said.

Moreover, her lawyers have argued that there was no evidence linking her to any wrongdoing. They said she was merely a friend of Epstein.

Inner City Press reported from the court, Menninger saying: ”Then there’s the manipulation piece. We’ll go through the stories of each witness. The stories have changed. Carolyn had a lawyer in 2008, a story about Epstein and Sarah Kellen who she also sued without mentioning Ghislaine Maxwell…

Ghislaine is being tried here for being with  Jeffrey Epstein. Maybe it was the bigger mistake of her life. But it is not a crime. Acquit her.”

Is Ghislaine Maxwell Guilty?

“Epstein could not have done this alone,” Assistant US Alison Moe told the court.

Ghislaine Maxwell was Epstein’s alleged recruiter, friend and partner.

According to The Guardian, the prosecution described Maxwell as a “woman who preyed on vulnerable kids.”

“She targeted a girl whose father had just died. She targeted a girl whose mother was an alcoholic. She targeted a girl with a single mom who was struggling to raise her daughters,” Ms Moe said.

US Assistant Attorney Maureen Comey told thr court Maxwell had touched three witnesses breasts.

Ghislaine Maxwell guilty

“The defense tried to get you to look way through the massive amount of evidence Ms. Moe walked you through this morning,” Ms Comey said.

Maxwell’s lawyer Laura Menninger said her client was being persecuted for Epstein’s crimes.

“I am not here to defend Jeffrey Epstein. He is not my client. The US presented evidence like a sensational tabloid,” she said.

Ms Menninger cited the prosecution’s references to Epstein’s private island and photos as prejudicial.

Ghislaine Maxwell Verdict

Ghislaine Maxwell Guilty

These were things that Epstein did, perhaps, his crimes. But Ghislaine Maxwell was not Epstein, Ms Menninger said.

According to The Daily Beast, the defence “took swipes at the government and all but suggested a vast conspiracy to frame Maxwell for Epstein’s sex crimes.”

“Every last one of the government’s interviews with these accusers was not recorded … and that was by design,” her team said.

From inside the court today (December 21 ADST) during final prosecution and defence arguments, we heard reports the 59-year-old prisoner was visibly upset.

After days of testimony over three weeks, jurors heard from final witnesses in the trial of socialite Ghislaine Maxwell, who told the judge she wouldn’t testify because she was confident prosecutors hadn’t proved their case.

The Brit’s legal defence team had originally flagged it would call up to 35 witnesses, but only presented eight.

The defence asked the jury on Monday to consider: ”Where are the other 37,000 photographs? Who was in them? You don’t know. They didn’t bring you those photos. There were folders and binders. But they brought you the most innocuous photos of a couple that was once together.”

“They’ve made Ghislaine Maxwell to be Cruela DeVille and the Devil Wears Prada all rolled up in to one.” Maxwell Counsel Laura Menninger said.

“Ghislaine is being tried here for being with  Jeffrey Epstein. Maybe it was the bigger mistake of her life. But it is not a crime. Acquit her.”

There have been many twists and turns throughout this story over two decades but only time can tell how it is going to end.

Ghislaine Maxwell Guilty

Waiting for the Ghislaine Maxwell Verdict

John Sweeney wrote in The Guardian: “Maxwell was seen holding her hands up in despair at her fancy attorneys who have cost her, according to their own estimate some $7m.”

He added: “the reason there is no defence is because there is no defence: that is, Ghislaine Maxwell is guilty.”

His colleague Victoria Bekiempis reported on what she perceived as failed attempts to make Maxwell appear likeable.

“Even the fairest of jurors likely won’t be able to ignore prosecutors’ attempted portrayal of Maxwell as a privileged socialite. Prosecutors contend that Maxwell committed crimes to preserve her gilded lifestyle…

The defense’s mounting of a campaign on likability – a common courtroom tactic – is a response to that prosecution attack. If Maxwell were more likable to jurors, there just might be a slight chance.”

Want to know more about Jeffrey Epstein?

Many of us are walking Epstein and Maxwell encyclopaedias, others are just catching up with the case, so for those of you who are new to the case this is our ‘start here”.

This is a rundown on the major dates in the Epstein and Maxwell case, along with a look at the major players, the enablers, the co-conspirators, and the survivors. So you can jump right into the pod series, rather than having to go all the way back.

There’s not time enough to cover EVERYTHING but this will get you started.

Ghislaine Maxwell Prince Andrew

Jeffrey Epstein was born in 1953 in working class Coney Island.

His dad Seymour was a parks worker and mum (Paula) worked various jobs, mainly as a school aide. He had a younger brother Mark, his sole heir.

He was a gifted kid and skipped forward a couple of years at school, maths was his thing. But despite his intelligence he didn’t manage to graduate with a degree despite enrolling in both Cooper Union and the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at NY University.

Ghislaine Maxwell Verdict

In September 1974 he started working at the Dalton School, an exclusive private school in New York. The headmaster at the time he was employed was Donald Barr, yes, father of William. Epstein was employed to teach physics and maths despite having no qualifications. From accounts of former students and colleagues, he stood out in the school, wearing outfits that would have made Tony Manero from Saturday night fever green with envy.

How he moved to the financial institution Bear Sterns is also shrouded in mystery, although some say he wowed  Alan Greenberg, the chief executive officer of whose two children were at the school during a parent teacher interview.Greenberg’s daughter Lynne, has said that Epstein convinced another parent to put in a good word for him with Greenberg.

In june of 1976 he left teaching, some say under a shadow, to go work as a junior assistant to a floor trader, moving quickly to be an options trader. Within four years he became a limited partner of the company. He was soaring so to speak.

If his career was murky before, becoming a teacher then a trader, without qualifications, it gets dirtier when in mid 1981 he was asked to leave Bear Sterns for what he would say was a violation of regulations.

He hit out on his own with his own company called Intercontinental Assets Group, where he was basically a debt collector for mega rich clients not just in the US but also the UK and Switzerland.

This is when his legend as a financial genius started, particularly when he helped  Spanishactress and heiress Ana Obregon retrieve millions that went missing in the Rysdale Government Securities  fraud.

It was in the mid late 1980s that he met UK publisher Robert Maxwell and his youngest child Ghislaine who would be for many years his partner and is now alleged to be his co-conspirator in the sex trafficking of minors. It’s not known who he met first, the father or the daughter, but like Robert Maxwell, he was also by now a self-made man.

In 1987 he started working for Steve Hoffenberg as a consultant for Towers Financial Corporation and the money continued to flow.

Epstein worked at Towers for two years until 1989. In 1993 when Towers imploded in one of the world’s largest Ponzi schemes Hoffenberg pointed atEpstein in court documents, blaming him for the fraud.  Hoffenberg spent 18years in a federal prison and was ordered to repay 470million. It’s not known if Epstein did end up with the missing funds but he was never arrested in regards to the Towers Ponzi scheme.

In 1991 Robert Maxwell  ‘fell’ ‘was pushed’ or what ever it was off his luxury yacht, the Lady Ghislaine, and was found floating stone dead.Ghislaine turned to Epstein for support. Maxwell also died with a huge financial scandal on his head, the missing Maxwell Pension Funds. Again where the money is, no one knows.

Ghislaine fled the UK, trying to reinvent herself in the US where she soon was considered the partner of Epstein who by this stage was a wealthy man. The relationship may have been more than met the eye, she gave him contacts and the veneer of class, as she’d grown up wealthy in the UK, going to the right schools and knowing the right people like Prince Andrew who’d she’d know most of her life. She opened doors for him, he provided her with the lifestyle she was used to.

Ghislaine Maxwell Verdict

Epstein continued working for select clients, the joke was they had to be billionaires, millions weren’t enough. He was known as an expert in “tax mitigation and trust funds”, all the financial moves the uber rich wanted.

One of his big clients was Les Wexner, whose entire fortune was controlled by JE for a period of time. Wexner also ‘gave’Epstein the largest private residence in New York to Epstein in the mid 1990s, although some reports say he sold it to him for $1. The 7 storey mansion was the site of many of the allegations of sexual assault and rape.

Epstein also bought a place in Palm Beach, a ranch in New Mexico which he named Zorro, a Paris apartment and an Island called Little St James in the Virgin Islands, where he moved his firm for tax reasons, as the move to the VI islands meant he could reduce his federal income taxes by almost 90% according to some sources. HE later bought a larger island close by, but at the time of his death hadn’t developed it.

Little was really known about Epstein, other than his swanky British partner and the fact he serviced only the richest of the rich, mixed in top circles, meeting politicians, businessmen, scientists and yes, British princes.

In March 2005 a stepmother of a 14yo highschool girl called the Palm Beach Police to say that Epstein had sexually assaulted the teen, sparking a huge investigation.

By 2008 Epstein was facing a 53 page Federal indictment on a raft of charges that should have landed him in jail for life.

Instead his legal team negotiated a plea deal that changed the charges to two counts of procuring underage prostitutes for sex.

He served 13 months in the county jail and part of this plea deal was that he was released for 12 hours, six days a week for work release.

This deal is known as the ‘plea deal” or the “”non prosecution deal’ and was brokered by the US Attorney’s office in Miami, then led by Alex Acosta (yes  President Trumps labor secretary until he …… just after JE 2019 arrest and death in custody) representing  Epstein was a slew of lawyers including Harvard Prof Alan Dershowitz, who has also represented Trump, OJ, Mike Tyson, Patty Hearts and and most recently it has surfaced that Dershowitz tried to free convicted paedophile George Nader so he could be sent to the United Arab Emirates to help in dip0lomatic talks according to the New York Times.

Epstein’s plea deal not only swapped the Fed charges to two state counts but also provided JE and any alleged co-conspirators with immunity from any future prosecutions on the charges surrounding his arrest.

He did his 13 months but then ignored his year long parole conditions, regularly leaving for his other homes in NY, NM and the VI without prior permission.

While he ducked out of sight for a while, he resumed his networking and tried to rehabilitate his reputation by donating huge sums to a variety of cultural, scientific and charitable foundations, organisations and think tanks, including Harvard and the NY Academy of Art.

However by this time Maxwell had started dating Gateway tech billionaire Ted Waitt although she remained part of Epstein’s life, describing herself as his best friend and his helper.

IN 2015 a story broke about his friendship with Prince Andrew with allegations from Virginia Roberts Giuffre that Epstein and Maxwell trafficked her to Prince Andrew in 2001 when she was 17. The story was huge in the UK and commonwealth countries.

Ghislaine Maxwell Verdict

Epstein kept travelling andtrafficking and raping children, dodging further arrests despite a slew of civil cases lodged against him and his alleged co-conspirator Maxwell, who in 2016 was taken to court in a civil defamation case by Viriginia Roberts Giuffre. The documents for this case were sealed, but have just been unsealed, although heavily redacted.

Despite the Prince Andrew allegations floating around and gossip Epstein just kept doing his thing until July 7, 2019 when Epstein was arrested on the tarmac at New Jersey’s Teterboro airport after returning from his Paris home.

On july 8, prosecutorsfrom the US Attorney’s Office for the SDNY alleged that from 02 to 05 Epstein “sexually exploited and abused dozen of minor girls and at his homes in Manhattan, NY and Palm Beach, Florida, among other locations, using $ to recruit a vast network of underage victims, and some of those victims were as young.

Former Epstein Girlfriend Denies Group Massage Encounter

Epstein Girlfriend: Dr Eva Andersson-Dubin, a former Miss Sweden whose husband is hedge fund manager Glenn Dubin, said she dated Jeffrey Epstein on and off from 1980 to about 1990-1991.

The cancer philanthropist testified in Manhattan federal court on Friday during the trial of Ghislaine Maxwell.

Dr Andersson-Dubin said she had traveled with Jeffrey Epstein and her young family on his planes.

“Were you and Mr Dubin comfortable with the relationship between Mr Epstein and your children?” asked Jeffrey Pagliuca, one of Maxwell’s attorneys.

“Yes, we were,” she said.

Mr Pagliuca: “Did it appear to you that Mr Epstein was fond of your children?”

Mrs Dubin responded: “yes he was”.

The defense witness also testified that she never observed any inappropriate conduct between Jeffrey Epstein and any teenage girls or underage females.

Mr Pagliuca queried claims from Maxwell accuser Jane about group sexual encounters.

During Jane’s cross-examination, she said that one participant in a sexualized group massage was named “Eva”.

When asked if she ever been in a group sexual encounter with the person called Jane, Dubin responded: “absolutely not”.

The Dubins are at the centre of allegations made by a butler concerning a bereft 15-year-old girl.

The couple denies all the allegations and there are many.

Together the duo funds a cancer facility in New York, which Epstein also donated to under the ruse of a trust named for one of  the Dubin’s daughters.

The Epstein trust was reportedly named after the Dubin daughter Epstein wanted to marry.

There were multiple reports Epstein had a naked photo of the same child on his wall.

This was the same photo referenced at Ghislaine Maxwell’s trial.

Maxwell rested her sex-trafficking case after calling the prosecution’s arguments against her “unproven” and declining to testify.

Her decision comes after her lawyers called nine witnesses over two days.

Maxwell, 59, denies grooming underage girls for abuse by the late paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

Closing arguments begin on Monday. The disgraced socialite faces up to 80 years in prison if convicted on charges of sex trafficking and perjury.

The trial continues next week.

Jeffrey Epstein, 66, was found dead in his jail cell on August 2019 while awaiting trial on federal charges of sex trafficking involving dozens of underage girls.

Ghislaine Maxwell Case: schoolgirl outfit to victim

Ghislaine Maxwell Case Day 6: Ghislaine Maxwell’s trial is in full swing in New York City for the start of the second week. Jen Tarran is covering it for you.

  • The school girl costume seized from one of Epstein’s homes is being discussed
  • It seems that this may be admissible
  • Day 6 of the trials starts today with “Kate”, the female who was known on the indictment as minor victim three.

The first witness today was a woman called ‘Kate’, who is testifying without being identified and has been described as a singer and musician, before meeting Maxwell in Paris through an ex-boyfriend.

She saw the socialite for the next time at her London townhouse, where she was asked for a massage by Epstein while he was naked.

Ghislaine Maxwell Case Day 6

Kate said she believed Maxwell and Epstein were together, boyfriend and girlfriend.

Maxwell’s Belgravia house (below). The one where Prince Andrew was photographed with Virginia Roberts.

Ghislaine Maxwell Case Day 6

Kate told the court Maxwell named dropped, including Prince Andrew, Donald Trump.

Assistant US Attorney: What gifts did you receive from Maxwell?
Kate: A small black Prada bag for my 18th birthday. AUSA: After sex with Epstein?

Kate: Yes, after.

(Age of consent in the UK is 16 by the way). Kate also said she was taken to the US by Epstein.

Kate described the school girl outfit as:

  • a short skirt, white panties and white socks.

She doesn’t go into the details of the sexual acts, per Judge’s order:

“She asked me if I had fun and told me I was such a good girl and told me I was one of his favourites.”

Ghislaine Maxwell Case Day 6

In her early 20s Kate said she was taken to ‘Little St Jeffs’. She said she saw a blonde slim girl, “who seemed far younger than me at the time, very young”.

And now the witness’s drug use of Kate comes up. The defence no doubt will argue that it would mean her memory is damaged or something similar.

Kate says she was a heavy user of cocaine and ecstasy from the age of 17.

So Maxwell’s team is trying to rile up the jury about the money survivors received. As if being compensated for their trauma, being given money for therapy and to make up for loss of income, education and safety means that they are bad people or lying.

For those who haven’t twigged. Kate is the survivor formerly known as Minor victim 3.

Kate told the court Maxwell named dropped, including Prince Andrew, Donald Trump etc.

Defence lawyer Bobbi Sternheim grills her about her modelling for a lingerie company and being on a billboard. Her extraordinary ability visa to the US Sternheim, #GhislaineMaxwell‘s attorney, asks if she was discovered by the musician Seal.
Kate, says No.

Also asked about a previous relationship with an older, prominent gentleman who was an Oxford classmate of Ghislaine, correct?
Kate: Yes.

Is that the introduction link? Sternheim: You were in a movie with a very well known UK actor, correct?
Kate: Yes

Ghislaine Maxwell Case Day 6

Jen comments: Ok – these questions I believe are about giving out enough info for people to work out who this woman is. Is this more intimidation?

Now questions about the work she does now. A foundation for women who have trauma and substance abuse disorders.

Fact: sexual assault of any form is a traumatising event. It can and often does lead to substance abuse. Sternheim throwing more breadcrumbs out about the survivors identity.

Transcript of Ghislaine Maxwell Case Leaked to Men’s Rights Activist

Hear it Ghislaine Maxwell Trial 2021

Transcripts of this week’s testimonies in the Ghislaine Maxwell sex trafficking case are being leaked to a man leading a smear campaign against an Epstein survivor.

The records are being put in the hands of a men’s rights activist from the UK. He has been targeting for months Epstein whistleblower Virginia Giuffre.

Artist: Ghislaine Maxwell Trial 2021

But someone is passing on expensive leaking legal information to this so-called journalist so he can continue his campaign of slander and harassment against Epstein whistleblower Giuffre.

They include the opening statement day 1 and Jane’s examination from Day 3.

Ghislaine Maxwell Trial 2021

At the same time, the man is hyping up these transcripts on his website and foreshadowing interviews with one of the Maxwell brothers.

And the controversial lawyer, Alan Dershowitz, who has told the court in another case he’s dying and unable to assist the court in another matter, is also scheduled for an interview.

Interesting Dershowitz is now able to speak to this men’s rights activist (with his own a checkered past) on his podcast.

We believe legal resources shouldn’t be used to harass survivors. The integrity of the legal system is everything.

So what will we do? We are going to narrate the transcripts here and call him out. We won’t name him because he seeks attention.

Gillan Maxwell

And we’re going to emphasize what to us with some of the more compelling moments of the week. Because at the end of the day, this is not about one man’s obsessive hatred of Virginia Roberts.

It’s about documenting and getting to the truth. So if this means we have to steal his thunder, we will.

Because it’s about time this bullshit was called out for what it actually is.

Ghislaine Maxwell Trial 2021

It’s the continuous, decades-long harassment of survivors.
Transcripts of court proceedings shouldn’t be used to try and undermine the judicial process.

Plus, you have got to ask yourself, why the Maxwell family is giving this guy podcast interviews. He’s not even a journalist. He just doesn’t like women in our opinion.

Epstein Victim| “my life would change forever.”

Epstein Victim: The sex-trafficking trial of British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell has heard an alleged survivor was groomed for abuse from the age of just 14.

Asked earlier why she remembered the first time she was abused by Epstein, the woman said it was more clear than other events “because it’s the beginning of when my life would change forever.”

Minor victim one’s testimony appears to be a key component of the case, US v Ghislaine Maxwell.

Epstein victim
Ghislaine Maxwell

Known as Jane, she was the first of four women whom prosecutors have described as underage victims of Maxwell and the socialite’s former boyfriend.

The Epstein victim testified that the dead financier began sexually abusing her when she was 14 years old.

She told the court how Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s ex-lover and defendant in the case, normalised the abuse by being in the room.

The alleged acts left her feeling ashamed and humiliated.

“I’ve always just wanted to put this past me. I moved on with my life,” Jane said.

“I work in the entertainment industry and victim shaming is still very present to this day.”

Talking publicly could also affect her career, the Epstein victim said.

“I didn’t really want any part of it,” she said.

“I just wanted it to go away.”

She added: ”I was terrified and felt gross and felt ashamed.”

Prosecutor Alison Moe asked Jane : “Who was most frequently in the room when you had sexual contact with Jeffrey Epstein when you were 14 years old?” “Ghislaine Maxwell,” Jane said.

But Maxwell’s counsel Bobbi Sternheim asked the woman why it took twenty years for her to report the alleged assaults.

As well the defence lawyer, focused on her career as an adult. She described Jane as an actress.

“She is a pro at playing roles,” Ms. Sternheim said.

The New York Times said the lawyer asserted Jane had changed her story to obtain millions of dollars in compensation from a fund established for Epstein’s victims.

If the jury believes Epstein victim Jane, it could be “game over” for Maxwell.

But how the defence team will try to undermine this testimony though is becoming apparent.

Maxwell has pleaded not guilty to all charges against her.

The trial, in New York City, is expected to last six weeks.
